County Approves Avalon Timeline
Sonora, CA – Avalon Healthcare Inc. has a new timeline related to taking over services that have been offered by Tuolumne General Hospital.
The County sought out a private company to build a skilled nursing facility in 2007 upon the decision to phase out T.G.H.
Avalon stepped up and agreed to add 92 beds immediately adjacent to its current location on Greenley Road. The company initially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the County in 2008.
The terms were adjusted at Tuesday’s Supervisors meeting.
Avalon now agrees to begin excavation in June of 2010 and work diligently to open in September of 2011. Avalon will admit all of the county’s patients that desire to transfer, assuming they are covered by Medi-Cal, Medicare or private insurance.
The County agrees to assist Avalon in permitting and licensing efforts and continue to operate the current skilled nursing facility until Avalon is ready to open.
