Berryhill Recommends Suspension Of AB 32

Sacramento, CA — On the three year anniversary of the passage of AB 32, a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions bill, Assemblyman Tom Berryhill and other Republicans are calling for its suspension.

“I think that the Governor today should think about suspending AB 32 and not implementing it for the next three or four years until we get the business climate back on track in the state of California,” Berryhill said at a press conference at the State Capitol.

Berryhill and four other lawmakers cited a recent study on the cost of regulations facing small businesses.  It shows that the total cost of regulations to California businesses is $492 billion a year, which is almost a third of the gross state product. The study is part of Assembly Bill 2330, authored by Assemblyman Juan Arambula, (I) Fresno.

Other Republicans speaking out Thursday included Assemblyman Dan Logue of Chico, Bill Berryhill of Ceres, Ted Gaines of Roseville and Roger Niello of Fair Oaks.
