Sonora, CA — The “Feel The Love” project, an initiative of the company Lennox, honored a Tuolumne County woman this week.
Each October, unsung heroes are picked to receive a free heating or cooling system upgrade.
Local company, Gatewood Heating and Air Conditioning, participated this year, and Susan Collie was selected as the recipient. Collie has spent the past 40 years volunteering her time advocating for people with intellectual disabilities. She has been involved with countless activities, such as coaching Special Olympics, and opening a residential home to help care for six individuals with disabilities. In addition, she started a parents’ support group, and an acting program for the neurodiverse community.
Gatewood installed a brand-new HVAC system at Collie’s home this week, to benefit her family.
Gatewood officials report that they were excited to be a part of the meaningful program, and next year they hope to help more than one local family. They would like the community to be aware of the opportunity in 2026, as nominations will begin in May and close in late August. They encourage community members to nominate deserving community members, and those in need, when the next round begins.
