Sonora Renews Agreement For Police Officers At School
The Sonora City Council has approved a 3-year renewal of an Operational Agreement between the City of Sonora and Sonora Union High School District for the School Resource Officer Program.
The agreement means that an officer will be present on school grounds to monitor the students and maintain the structure of the rules.
There will be a 50/50 cost sharing between the schools and the city and any overtime pay necessary will be the responsibility of both parties; however there is an “out clause” in case the city or school district decide against the program.
All of the Council members voted to approve the renewal and added that it is a great way to instill respect and a sense of authority in students.
