Sonora, CA — Maxx Wheeler has been exploring some of the hidden corners of the Mother Lode for years, and he recently put out a book about the adventures.
It is entitled, Underground: Exploring Tunnels of Darkness, Caves, and Mines. Wheeler was featured as today’s KVML Newsmaker of the Day, and you can find the full interview here.
Talking about the writing process, he said, “It was all by memory, and writing it was reliving it.”
It is a history book with firsthand observations.
Wheeler adds, “It is 264 pages, 32 chapters, fully loaded with color pictures.”
Wheeler has produced several videos about what lies underground, but this is his first book.
Wheeler was also featured on Mother Lode Views in 2024, detailing many of his findings and observations.
The book is selling for $30 and is available at several local stores in Tuolumne County. Wheeler is also doing a book signing on May 16 at the Sonora Inn at 10 am.
