Outdoor Burning Banned

The high fire danger has prompted Cal Fire to halt all outdoor burning in the Mother Lode. All burn permits will be suspended  starting Monday, January 27 at 8 a.m. in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

“It’s the weather,” says Nancy Longmore Cal Fire Spokesperson. “We’ve got way higher than normal temperatures and a record breaking lack of rain fall. It is unusual, but this is an unusual winter.”

At this time, campfires are still permitted on Stanislaus National Forest land, in designated campgrounds, and on private property with permission of the landowner. Longmore says the suspension will remain in place until the region gets some rain.
