Hunters Fire 60% Contained
Mariposa, CA — Firefighters continue to strengthen the containment lines on the Hunters Fire in Mariposa County.
CAL Fire reports that the 677 acre fire is now 60% contained. Full containment is anticipated this coming Monday. There is still a lot of heat in the interior of the fire’s perimeter. Earlier this week CAL Fire had estimated the fire was 1,300 acres, and the new reduced acreage estimate is the result of more accurate GPS mapping.
All evacuation orders have been lifted for the Hunters Valley area. 915 firefighters are on scene this morning. There are 30 crews, 88 engines, three air tankers, four helicopters, 11 dozers and six water tenders. Two homes have been destroyed, as well as one outbuilding.
