Sonora, CA — Sonora Police made a seizure Wednesday of the most unusual type.
Police spokesman Mark Stinson says his department received an anonymous tip that a man was raising a three-and-a-half foot long alligator in his apartment on Stewart Street.
The man told officers that he had owned the alligator since it was a few inches long and planned to raise it until it was fully grown. He also said he was planning to move the animal to a fish pond behind the apartment building when it reached an adult length of eight to ten feet.
Officers determined that the man didn´t have the proper licenses or permits to have the animal.
Sonora Police along with the city´s animal control officer seized the alligator and transported it to a wildlife and exotic animal refuge.
