Tuolumne County Supervisors listened to a detailed response this morning to a controversial Grand Jury report, critical of County Administrator Brent Wallace and Tuolumne General Hospital.

Wallace gave an impassioned rebuttal before the supervisors this morning, as well as providing them with a 15-page written document.

Tuolumne General Hospital Administrator Barry Woerman has supplied another 7-page memo. The Grand Jury report focused in large part on TGH and its board of trustees.

Woerman urged the Grand Jury and member of the community to recognize correcting difficult problems outlined in the report “will require implementation of a Financial Recovery plan based on sustained growth” and not “quick fixes” that realize short term savings at the cost of eliminating long range programs and resources needed to keep the county-run health care facility financially viable.

The response was approved and will now be forwarded to Superior Court.
