A Bay Area mother and son died in a head-on collision on Highway 108 in the Jamestown area just after 10:00 this morning.
The California Highway Patrol says driver 42-year-old Lee Glover and his mother, 69-year-old Il Goodsell, both of San Mateo, were headed eastbound on Highway 108 near the Highway 49/Montezuma Junction intersection in a 1993 Mercury Tracer and were attempting to pass another vehicle.
They collided head-on with a Caltrans cone truck traveling at about 45 miles per hour in the westbound lane.
The occupants of the smaller car were killed instantly.
The Caltrans driver, 62 year-old Leroy Orsetti of Douglas Flat, was working in the area with a Caltrans roadway paint striping crew out of Lodi. He was taken to Sonora Community Hospital with a fractured back.
