FBI investigators and deputies from Tuolumne and Calaveras counties have been back at the Stevenot Bridge since early this morning. They came close to recovering a body yesterday from the deep water of New Melones Lake, but a submersible lost its grip on it before it could be brought to a safe depth for divers.

The recovery effort is part of an ongoing organized crime investigation. Agent Nick Rossi says yesterday´s discovery appears to confirm the suspected connection between the lake and that case.
