Davis Delays Ban

Governor Gray Davis has given gasoline makers an additional year to phase out use of the anti-pollution additive M-T-B-E. Although M-T-B-E is blamed for groundwater pollution, the governor says there could be supply problems and sharp rises in gasoline prices if the state switches to ethanol instead of M-T-B-E.
