A procession of fire engines is set to make its way across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge today as part of a funeral for a rookie Alameda County firefighter. 28-year-old Sekou Turner collapsed and died last week. Hundreds of friends, family members and firefighters from across the Bay Area are expected to attend the funeral of the Marin City native.
Fire Captain Dave Wheeler says firefighters will march from the Marin City firehouse to the Cornerstone Church of God in Christ on Drake Avenue in Marin City. At the end of the noon service — a large procession of fire trucks and engines will travel across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond. Wheeler said a fellow firefighter found Turner unconscious in some bushes moments after loading a patient into an ambulance last Wednesday. The cause of death is still under investigation.
