Dismissal Requested In Bombing Civil Suit
Sponsored by:
Government lawyers have asked a federal judge to dismiss a civil rights case involving the F-B-I and Oakland police. They say remarks made during a rally organized by supporters of two Earth First! activists have tainted ongoing jury deliberations. The government says an attorney representing the late Judi Bari waited until jurors were leaving the Oakland courthouse to ask activists to pray the jury would be objective.
Cherney and Bari were injured when a bomb went off in their car in 1990. Authorities arrested them for the bombing though no one was ever charged.
