A spokeswoman for an outlawed Afghan women´s group is urging the United States to help establish a stable, democratic government in the war-torn country. And the government should include women says Tahmeena Faryal, a representative of the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, or RAWA.
Faryal, who uses a fake name because she´s been threatened with death, spoke to about 350 people and said a government that excludes women can´t function.
The group she represents secretly educates girls and finds work for women, activities forbidden by the ruling Taliban. Faryal also says the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance isn´t a very good alternative because they too have a history of violence.
