Angels Camp, CA — CAL Fire will do a prescribed burn later this week at the Whittle Vegetation Management site on Bear Mountain/Fowler Peak.
The area is east of Copperopolis and west of Angels Camp. Smoke will be visible from both Highway 4 and 49. The primary purpose of the burn is to reduce hazardous fuels around Fowler Peak lookout, communication towers, and surrounding infrastructure.
A total of 530 acres will be burned through Friday and Saturday, October 25-26. It is contingent on weather conditions.
On scene will be fire engines, fire crews, bulldozers and a helicopter to do aerial ignitions. Officials will remain on scene until all of the hotspots are extinguished.
