Burned, Scared, And Silent Cat Survives 6-5 Fire

Jamestown, CA – Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Animal Control (TCSAC) found a cat that amazingly survived the ashes, despite being barely alive and burned by the flames of the 6-5 Fire that swept through Chinese Camp.

The feline named Miles, shown in the image box, had his paws charred and ears and whiskers singed away while attempting to escape the flames and has received weeks of intensive care. Shelter workers said that following the fire, the cat endured painful daily rewashing and bandaging of his paws. Staff was able to gently console Miles through the discomfort, and slowly, he began to purr again over time.

“Today, Miles walks on healed paws. He’s become our beloved office companion, greeting staff with soft meows and curling up in sunny windows like he owns the place,” noted shelter officials, adding, “But this old soul deserves something even more—a home.

After all he’s endured, Miles still has the biggest heart. He’s gentle, grateful, and ready to spend his golden years wrapped in warmth and love, not smoke and fear.”

TCSAC wants to find a forever home for Miles, one that gives him the quiet life he’s earned. Those interested are asked to come meet the cat that proves “even from ashes, hope can grow.”
