East Union Football Player Taken Off Life Support

French Camp, CA — The East Union High School footbal player critically injured in a game last weekend has succumbed to his injuries.
Sixteen-year-old Matthew Van Gelderen was in a coma for a week after undergoing surgery for brain swelling last Saturday.
He´s been on life support at San Joaquin County General Hospital ever since. Doctors declared Van Gelderen brain dead last Friday.
He was injured while blocking an opposing player in a kickoff play in a game in Stockton on September 16th.
