November Election A Fiery One In Calaveras
San Andreas, CA — For some Calaveras County voters, the November 8th special statewide election includes picking new fire district directors.
In the Copperopolis Fire Protection District, incumbent Mario Hernandez of Angels Camp is being challenged by retired fire captain Shelton Peery of Copperopolis and Stockton firefighter Shawn Qualls.
There are two four-year seats available on the board. On the Foothill Fire Protection District board there are also two four-year seats open.
Kenneth Glissman of Wallace and Gary West of Burson are the incumbents and are running against firefighter Steven Sugar of Burson.
In the Foothill Fire Protection District, one two-year director position is open. The seat is currently held by William McFall of Valley Springs.
Steffen Sommer a firefighter and paramedic from Burson is challenging him.
Sample ballots detailing the races and polling places have been mailed out to residents.
