MACT Health Sonora, Health & Wellness is expanding its team with a new provider who understands the profound human element of healing. For Johnny, this work is deeply rooted in a truth spoken by Fred Rogers: “Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable.” This philosophy serves as the guiding principle of his career, one built on a steadfast belief in the power of community and personal transformation.
His practice in social work took root in 2011 in Butte County. Working as a Case Manager, he supported individuals navigating the difficult realities of crisis and homelessness. This foundational experience shaped his path forward, leading him to earn a Master's degree in Social Work from California State University, Chico in 2019. Following his graduation, he spent over six years in Boise, Idaho, embedding himself in a community mental health setting with a dedicated focus on individual therapy.
Today, Johnny engages with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, bringing a wealth of specialized training to his practice. He is extensively trained in trauma-focused modalities, including EMDR, IFS, DBT, and TF-CBT. Through a therapeutic approach heavily influenced by person-centered, existential, and trauma-focused perspectives, he creates a space where difficult feelings become less overwhelming.
Outside of his clinical work, his life is guided by core values of service, creativity, and adventure. Whether he is spending time outdoors, playing music, or reading, he brings the same authentic presence to his daily life that he offers his clients. Just as the trusted people in Mr. Roger’s quote help us realize we are not alone, Johnny has made it his life's work to provide that exact reassurance to his community.
