Wire Taps On Tap In Peterson Trial Today
Arguments over wiretaps continues today in Scott Peterson´s double-murder trial. Peterson´s phones were tapped in early 2003, and defense lawyer Mark Geragos wants all that evidence tossed out. He maintains the attorney-client privilege was violated when parts of Peterson´s conversations with his lawyer were monitored.
Prosecutors will have to convince the judge the monitoring of Peterson´s calls was done properly.
Yesterday, the judge scolded prosecutors for failing to turn over investigative materials to Geragos. Judge Alfred Delucchi said evidence was coming out “like water torture.”
Peterson has consistently proclaimed his innocence in the case. If he is convicted, he could be sentenced to death.
