A Sonora man died of hypothermia Wednesday after a Tuesday vehicle crash forced him to spend the night outside.

72-year-old Anthony Brisco was northbound on Shaws Flat Road Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

His family says he had a heart attack behind the wheel.

Brisco reportedly lost control of his vehicle, went through a fence, and crashed off the roadway– in a spot which wasn´t visible from the road.

CHP officers were called to the scene at 7:09 am Wednesday, where they found the man alive, with apparently no injuries from the crash.

Reports indicate Brisco had gotten free of his 1988 Acura, began crawling toward the roadway, and then losing consciousness in some nearly foliage.

Brisco´s name came back to the Sonora Police Department as a reported missing person.

Brisco was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he died of hypothermia.
