Sorry Girls, Orange Alert Means Shorter Bridge to Cross

The nation´s code orange terrorism alert is to blame for the cancellation of the Girl Scout´s annual walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
More than 4,000 Girl Scouts were to have taken part in the trek over the span on Saturday. But bridge officials have revoked the Scouts´ permit because the nation is at an orange security alert.
The Scouts´ annual “bridging ceremony” marks the transition as girls pass from Junior Girl Scouts to Cadettes. Not to worry. The Girl Scouts are nothing if not resilient. Since the famous span is off limits for them, they´ll cross a much smaller footbridge at Crissy Field.
