Solar Flares Create Northern Lights

Northern Californians could be treated to a rare glimpse of the northern lights tonight in the wake of a large solar flare. The flare – which will hit the Earth this morning — has the power to scramble electric lines, disrupt satellites and hamper high-frequency radio.
