Weather Causes Crop Disasters In State

After a scorching summer with unusually high temperatures that lingered until October, the valley has been hit with early rain, hail and freezing temperatures. Yesterday 18 California counties were declared federal crop disaster areas because of a disease that spreads in cool wet weather. They include Fresno, Kern, Madera and Merced counties.
