Supervisors Might Replace Board Chair Tuesday

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County Supervisors could vote Tuesday to remove District 3 supervisor Laurie Sylwester from her seat as board chairwoman.

The on-going rift within the five supervisors has been caused by Sylwester´s refusal to reappoint the former Tuolumne County planning commissioner Susan Duck and her weekly efforts to fill the planning commission vacancy with a local contractor.

Supervisor Don Ratzlaff requested the item to pull Sylwester from her position be placed on Tuesday´s board agenda.

A majority vote by the supervisors Tuesday would remove Sylwester and make supervisor Mark Thorton the new chair.

The board meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the supervisors chambers on Green Street in Sonora.
