California Farmers May Get Paid To Cut Plum Trees Down

California farmers produce more prunes than they can sell, so the government is proposing to pay them to remove some trees. Farms would be paid $8.50 per tree under a program intended to destroy 20 thousand acres of plum trees. The tree removal program is going to cost 17 million dollars.
