4 New COVID Cases In Tuolumne, 2 New Cases In Calaveras

Tuolumne County — Tuolumne County Public Health reports four new Covid-19 cases since Friday, three from Saturday and one today. The new cases are a man age 60 to 69, a woman age 70 to 79, a woman age 80 to 89, and a man over 90. None of the individuals had been vaccinated, a total of eight cases are isolating including one who is hospitalized. Tuolumne County has a total of 4,177 cases split between 2,760 community cases and 1,417 Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) inmate cases, the California Department of Corrections reports no active cases. Total community cases released from isolation increased four to 2,683 total and the total number of tests administered is 99,508. The county reports 19,693 fully vaccinated residents and 3,725 individuals partially vaccinated.

Calaveras County – The Calaveras public health reports two new cases since Friday with the county’s total COVID cases at 2,195. Active cases decreased three to seven total and recoveries increased five to 2,132 total. Two Calaveras residents are hospitalized with Covid. The total number of people over 65 years old identified with Covid is 453 since the pandemic began. Calaveras reports 35,117 vaccinations given and 44,026 Covid tests conducted.

Vaccines – Upcoming Covid clinics in Tuolumne are June 10, 2021 – Johnson & Johnson at the Tuolumne County Public Health, June 14, 2021 – Moderna at the Tuolumne County Memorial Hall, June 16, 2021 – Pfizer at the Tuolumne County Memorial Hall, June 18, 2021 – Johnson & Johnson at the Groveland Evangelical Free Church. In Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Mariposa schedule an appointment for a Covid vaccine by going to myturn.ca.gov. You can also call 833-422-4255 if you don’t have an email (Mon to Fri 8 AM to 8 PM, Sat and Sun 8 AM-5 PM) for assistance. Vaccine eligibility is open to everyone 12+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson)  More information about the vaccines is here. Public health encourages everyone to get vaccinated to help keep you and those around you protected from Covid-19, as well as reduce the spread of disease in the community, and help get the county to a less restrictive tier. Employers and event organizers may ask if a person is vaccinated, individuals may decline to answer. Updated mask guidelines are expected when the tier level system changes which is expected June 15.

Tier Status- Calaveras and Tuolumne remain in the Orange Tier of the State’s Blueprint for a safer economy. Mariposa shifted into the Yellow Tier last week on May 25th. The State released this week’s Blueprint update today with data for the week ending May 22nd. Tuolumne County’s Case Rate decreased slightly from 3.0 to 2.7, and the Test Positivity Rate is 1.4 from 1.6 last week. Calaveras is at a 3.9 Case Rate from 4.2 and has a Test Positivity Rate of 3.0 from a 4.2 percent, Mariposa remains at a 1.6 Case Rate and a Test Positivity Rate of 1.0 from 1.6 percent. Testing – Sonora’s COVID testing is now at the Tuolumne Memorial Hall. The hours are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. The Groveland testing site remains open at the Youth Center, 18950 Hwy 120 on Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. Due to low utilization and reopening of the youth center, this location will likely be relocated soon. Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to undergo diagnostic screening testing in non-healthcare workplace settings. Diagnostic screening testing for staff at long-term care facilities and hospitals will be dependent on the percentage or patients and staff that are fully vaccinated. Generally, diagnostic testing should be considered for all individual’s with symptoms or exposure to COVID-19.
