2 New COVID Cases In Tuolumne And 1 New Calaveras Case

Tuolumne County — Tuolumne County Public Health reports two new cases today. The new cases are a man 50 to 59, and a man age 60 to 69 both were not vaccinated. A total of 11 cases are isolating including one who is hospitalized. Tuolumne County has a total of 4,185 cases split between 2,768 community cases and 1,417 Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) inmate cases, the California Department of Corrections reports no active cases. This week (Friday to Friday) there have been 12 new cases reported and 9 released from isolation.

Total community cases released from isolation is 2,688 and the total number of tests administered is 100,163. The county reports 20,073 fully vaccinated residents and 3,589 individuals partially vaccinated.

Tuolumne County Public Health reports the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board will consider updating its face-covering rules on June 17 to better align with the state and federal guidance. Any update to the rules for workplaces, if voted on by the board, will go into effect around June 28. In the meantime, the protections adopted in November of 2020 will remain in effect. Calaveras County – The Calaveras public health reports one new case since yesterday with the county’s total COVID cases at 2,200. Active cases decreased one to six total and recoveries increased two to 2,138 total. No Calaveras residents are hospitalized with Covid. The total number of people over 65 years old identified with Covid is 455 since the pandemic began. Calaveras reports 35,791 vaccinations given and 44,410 Covid tests conducted. This week (Friday to Friday) there have been 7 new cases reported and 11 released from isolation.

Vaccines – Upcoming Covid clinics in Tuolumne are; the Adventist Health Sonora pop-up vaccination clinic this Saturday, June 12 as detailed here, June 14, 2021 with Moderna at the Tuolumne County Memorial Hall, June 16, 2021 with Pfizer at the Tuolumne County Memorial Hall, and June 18, 2021 with Johnson & Johnson at the Groveland Evangelical Free Church. More about the Calaveras Vaccination Van is here.  In Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Mariposa schedule an appointment for a Covid vaccine by going to myturn.ca.gov. You can also call 833-422-4255 if you don’t have an email (Mon to Fri 8 AM to 8 PM, Sat and Sun 8 AM-5 PM) for assistance. Vaccine eligibility is open to everyone 12+ (Pfizer) and 18+ (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson)  More information about the vaccines is here. Public health encourages everyone to get vaccinated to help keep you and those around you protected from Covid-19, as well as reduce the spread of disease in the community, and help get the county to a less restrictive tier. Employers and event organizers may ask if a person is vaccinated, individuals may decline to answer.

Testing – Sonora’s COVID testing is at the Tuolumne Memorial Hall. The hours are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. The Groveland testing site remains open at the Youth Center, 18950 Hwy 120 on Thursdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. Due to low utilization and reopening of the youth center, this location will likely be relocated soon. Tier Levels – Calaveras and Tuolumne remain in the Orange Tier of the State’s Blueprint for a safer economy but Stanislaus was finally able to move from the Red Tier to the less restrictive Orange Tier Tuesday. The State released this week’s Blueprint update today with data for the week ending May 29th. Tuolumne County’s Case Rate decreased to 2.2, and the Test Positivity Rate is at 1.4 percent. Calaveras Case Rate increased to 6.5 with a Test Positivity Rate of 4.3 percent. The tier level system will go away June 15, reopening the economy with restrictions only on mega-events over 5,000 people indoors or 10,000 outdoors.
