Fit Program Is Golden
Sonora, CA – Top honors for the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Fit for the Future Program. The program was started three years ago and its goal is to promote healthy living and fight obesity.
The state has awarded the program with a Golden Bell Award, which highlights 19 major categories that best support effective governance, teaching, and student learning.
Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Joe Silva says, “I am extremely proud that our students scored twice as high as the state in fitness. Their success is a direct result of the Fit for the Future program.”
The award will be handed out in San Francisco on Tuesday, December 16 at California School Boards Association Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. California Secretary of Health Diana Dooley will be attending the ceremony.
