43rd And Final 4-H Community Dinner & Cake Auction
The 43rd annual and final 4-H Community Dinner and Cake Auction will be held at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora this Saturday from 4 to 7pm.
Ron Hamilton, 4-H Community Dinner Chairman, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The dinner will include bar-b-que tri-tip, a baked potato, salad, roll and dessert.
Creative baked cakes will be on display until 5:00 p.m., when the auction begins.
$12 adult tickets will be made available at the door. The price is $8 for children under the age of twelve and for senior citizens.
This year’s community service project will be a food drive for the Food Bank at Columbia College. This is specifically to help students who are attending Columbia College who have a need for basic food. Representatives will be accepting non-perishable food this Saturday night.
After 43 years, why is this the final year?
“We are going to go to a different program and venture next year,” said Hamilton. “It’s emotional but sometimes you have to close the book on history and start something new.”
Hamilton and his mom both attended the first dinner forty-three years ago and they will both be at this final dinner. Hamilton is asking people in the community to come out to this final dinner and make it a special night.
All of the proceeds from the dinner support 4-H youth activities in Tuolumne County for the upcoming year.
The Friend of 4-H Award will be presented this Saturday night to Clarke Broadcasting.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45pm.
