Tuolumne County Supervisors To Discuss Recreational Marijuana
Sonora, CA — With California voters this week approving the use of marijuana for recreational use, the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will have a discussion about how to proceed forward.
On the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting is a presentation on what the ballot measure means for counties. The Supervisors will also give direction to county staff members on how they would like to see the law implemented. Proposition 64 allows counties to regulate, but not ban, personal indoor cultivation of up to six living plants within a private residence.
It does prohibit smoking marijuana in any public place where smoking is currently outlawed.
Questions for the Supervisors include whether personal grows should also be allowed outdoors, should the county allow more than six non-medical plants, should landlord consent be required for non-medical grows, should the county allow commercial distribution and cultivation, etc. The discussion is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday.
In other business, the Supervisors will hear a presentation from the Public Health Department regarding a new Community Health Needs Assessment and a report from the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau on efforts to recruit tourists.
The meeting begins at 9am in the Board of Supervisors meeting room.
