Update: One Of Three Regional Mountain Passes Reopens, Two Still Closed

Update at 5:56 p.m.: While all three mountain passes were closed due to snow on Sunday and Monday, Yosemite officials report that Tioga Road (the continuation of Highway 120 through the park) reopened this afternoon to traffic along with Glacier Point Road. Park reported that Tioga Pass closed on Sunday evening. Caltrans states Sonora Pass closed on Monday morning and Ebbetts Pass closed late Monday evening. Those two passes are managed by Caltrans, which states they will reopen on Monday, November 4. More high-country snow is anticipated later this week, prompting the extended closure.

Below Written by BJ Hansen-Original Post at 8:29 a.m.: Bear Valley, CA — Snow has arrived on the area mountain passes, temporarily closing Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass, Highway 108 Sonora Pass, and Highway 120 Tioga Pass.

Yosemite National Park reported that Tioga Pass closed on Sunday evening. Caltrans states Sonora Pass closed on Monday morning and Ebbetts Pass closed late Monday evening.

In announcing the latest pass closure, Ebbetts, Caltrans announced that the estimated reopening date is Monday, November 4. More high-country snow is anticipated later this week, prompting the extended closure.

Officials had earlier stated there was no estimated reopening of Sonora and Tioga passes, only that they are anticipated to reopen when conditions allow.

Highway 4 is closed, eastbound, at Lake Alpine. Highway 108 is closed at Kennedy Meadows, and Highway 120 is closed at Crane Flat.
