First Weekend In November Events

November offers a variety of fundraisers and fun seasonal events.

Beginning Friday morning there will be a Christmas Faire and Bake Sale put on by St. Matthew Lutheran Church. All proceeds from the sales of crafts and the luncheon will go to charities local and national.

Friday and Saturday enjoy the “Friends of the Library” Fall Book Sale at the Sonora Library.

Opening night for the Fallon House performance of Away In A Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas by Sierra Repertory Theater will be this Friday at 7 PM. Evening shows are at 7 PM on Friday and Saturday, on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday catch a performance at 2 PM through December 9.

Friday evening at the Mother Lode Conference Room is hosting a “Sip and Shop” event from 6 PM until 9 PM. Over 10 local business ladies will be selling fun and holiday gifts. Details are in the community event listing here.

Saturday is Murphys Dia de Los Muertos from 11 AM to 6 PM in and around Murphys Community Park. Celebrate the Day of the Dead in the Land of the Skulls (Calaveras) with a self-guided tour of Ofrendas, traditional music and dancers, food, craft vendors and the Catrina Contest.

Saturday morning have pancakes at Applebee’s to support the Shoebox project which delivers gift-filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Details are here. Also all day at the Timberhills Center Turkey Drive benefiting the Food Bank

Get portraits taken of your animals in the Pawliday Portraits 2018 event in the conference room at the animal shelter in Jamestown.

Saturday is an Open Garden Day at the Tuolumne County Master Garden.

There is a Wapama Falls Hike Saturday and it is Acorn Planting Day at the New Melones Visitors Canter.

Saturday the Sonora High School Hall of Fame Dinner will be held at the Sonora Elks Lodge. This Saturday is also Summerville’s “Feed the Bears” event at Tuolumne City Memorial Hall and at the Sonora Opera Hall is the Firefighter’s Ball.

Sunday celebrate Healthy Trails Day at Dragoon Gulch in Sonora or enjoy a Calaveras Community Band Fall Concert at the Dr. Elliott A. Smart Performing Arts Center in Angels Camp. This Sunday also features one of the St. James Concerts with Corina Stoian and Ron Brickman.
