Law And Justice Infrastructure Costs Increase
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors approved a change in the contract with Sierra Mountain Construction for the infrastructure work at the Law and Justice Center property.
The construction company has been overseeing the installation of utilities such as new water and sewer lines down Greenley Road linking over to Old Wards Ferry Road. They also made improvements to Wards Ferry Road, and built a new interior road to service the law and justice center site.
The county unanimously approved a change order of $444K, increasing the total cost of construction to $2.86 million. It was noted that one delay that led to a significant increase in costs was getting the permit from Caltrans to cross Highway 108 with the infrastructure. At one point Caltrans asked for a new design plan which led to more development time.
The law and justice center property will house the future Juvenile Detention Facility, Superior Courts facility and eventually a new county jail.
