Vintage Events This Weekend
The Mother Lode will host many events this weekend, and three of them will feature a vintage style.
Everyone is invited to the 63rd annual Murphys Homecoming to be held Saturday, July 21st, in the cool confines of the town’s historic park. Music and other activities will kick off at 11:30 a.m. Several individuals will be in period costumes, there will be a face painter and juggler to entertain the younger family members. At noon, the traditional Old Timers Luncheon will be served free of charge to anyone who has attained the age of 70 and has lived in the Murphys, Vallecito, Douglas Flat area for at least ten years.
Also at the park, as part of the celebration, the Calaveras Humane Society will hold the 19th Annual Duck Races. The ducks will be dropped into Murphys Creek, for information on how to participate view the event listing here.
Traffic will likely be heavy in Murphys as the Reba McEntire concert at Ironstone Amphitheatre starts at 7:30pm.

At the Sonora Elks Lodge the Tuolumne County Historical Society will present Fashion Through the Ages. On display will be vintage fashions, vintage cars, and live models wearing clothing from the 1890’s through the 1940’s. Doors open at 11:30 AM. Details are in the event listing here.
At 6pm the Friends of Columbia will host the Big Band Street Dance. Admission to the dance, in Columbia State Historic Park, is free. According to the event listing, “The 18th annual summer soiree will transport you to a different era opening with The Blue Shoes Ukulele Orchestra, a tri-tip barbeque dinner, a 1940’s themed costume and dance contest, car show and more!” For details see the full listing here.
In Sonora a Community Contra Dance will feature “Square Dancing in the Oldtime Barn Dance tradition.” The event will be at 7:30pm at the Aronos Womens Club in Sonora. For more on that event go here.
Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm in Twain Harte is the 35th Annual Summer Arts Wine Festival. 100 great craft and graphic artists and festival entertainers will be there.
