Christmas Sounds Are In The Air

Sonora, Ca — Two annual downtown Sonora traditions are the Pop Hudson Memorial Christmas Sing that immediately follows Mut’s Bean Feed going on now.

People began lining up for Mutz’s Bean Feed an hour before noon at the intersection of Washington and Linoberg Streets waiting for the social event to began. Organizer Galen (Mutz) Mutzner began serving free beans in 1987 to anyone who wanted them, and the event has become a Mother Lode tradition.

The Pop Hudson sing took place in Courthouse Park several groups took part with the crowd joining in song. Groups that sang included representatives from the Tuolumne County, Stanislaus National Forest, Sonora Regional Medical Center and even some select inmates from the Sierra Conservation Center. This was the 33rd annual event honoring Pop Hudson. The event got underway at 12:45pm and wrapped up at around 1:30pm.
