Multiple Charges Filed Against Sonora Area Transient

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s office has filed several complaints against 62 year old Thomas Joseph Layden III including a violation of section 455 of the California State Penal Code; an attempt to burn.
Formerly from Modesto the Sonora area transient was arrested by police Friday evening after attempting to set the Red Church on fire. Layden has also been charged with trespassing, burglary and vandalism.
In his lifetime Layden has already been admitted to and released from the State Mental Hospital in Atascadero.
