Calaveras Hopes For Another Playoff Upset
San Andreas, CA – Last Friday night the seventh seed Calaveras High Redskins knocked off the second seed Dixon in round one of the Division IV football playoffs.
Calaveras scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win 18-14.
“I think we have some players that might be outsized by other teams, but they make up for it in quickness and conditioning,” says Head Coach Jason Weatherby. “This team is not ready to be done, and they want to fight and get as far as they can in this. They have the heart and ability to win.”
Calaveras travels north this evening to take on the third seed Placer. It marks the first time in five years that Calaveras will play in the second round of the playoffs. The team now sports a 7-4 record on the season.
