Washington, DC — How strong of a holiday season did retailers have in 2009?
The Associated Press says the full holiday picture won’t be known until merchants report December sales on Jan. 7th, but most experts project that fourth-quarter profits will be intact.
ShopperTrak, a global traffic management company, is projecting a 1.6 percent gain, compared to a 5.9 percent drop a year ago.
The National Retail Federation expects that total retail sales in 2009 will fall one percent. A year ago, they fell 3.4 percent by the trade group’s calculations.
