District Attorney’s Office Sets Key Dates

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County District Attorney´s Office has set a number of key dates for upcoming readiness conferences and trials.

District Attorney Donald Segerstrom will be serve as the prosecuting attorney in the state´s case against Ricky Joseph Chavez. The two time convicted felon is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in the early morning May 15th death of 22 year old Holly Corinne Hanson of Oakdale.

Early that morning Chavez attempted to elude a CHP officer while traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Hwy 108. Chavez turned north on Washington St. traveling through Sonora. He then proceeded back to Hwy 108 via Stockton Rd. It was at that intersection that he failed to negotiate a right hand turn. His vehicle crossed over the highway and crashed. Both occupants were ejected. Hanson was killed while Chavez attempted to escape on foot. He was captured by the CHP.

The trial readiness conference is scheduled for July 14 with the trial set to start July 30 in Department One of Superior Court before the Honorable Eric DuTemple.

Eric Hovatter has been selected to serve as the prosecuting attorney in the state´s case against 18 year old Eric Allan Hadden and Brandt William Walther in the Friday evening April 11 Eproson Park shooting of 22 year old Jason Richard Dyer of Twain Harte. Hadden is scheduled for a trial readiness conference July 2 at 8:30am in Department One of Superior Court. His trial date has been set for July 16 at 8am in Department Four before the Honorable Eleanor Provost. Walther is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 20th. The two are tentatively scheduled to be tried together.

Monday Robert Earl Slawinsky and Paul Curtis Slawinsky were scheduled for a readiness conference June 16 at 8:30am in Department One of Superior Court. They will be tried for the alleged April 6 murder of Carl Stephen Knight. Knight´s body was reportedly dumped in Lake Don Pedro. Sheriff´s deputies have yet to locate the body. John Hanson has been selected as the prosecuting attorney.
