Niagara Fire Now Estimated At 30 Acres
Strawberry, Ca — A vegetation fire in the Niagara Creek Campgrounds area of the Stanislaus National Forest is now estimated at 30 acres in size.
The fire´s location is off of Hwy 108, two miles southeast of Donnell Lake. Park Spokesperson Jerry Snyder says 14 engines are on the ground, and there are also four air-tankers and three helicopters helping out with the effort. While the fire was believed to have originated in a cabin, no other structures are currently at risk. Snyder says some firefighters will likely remain on scene through the night.
“I expect that we will have crews up there, but I do not know to what extent,” says Snyder. “Of course the aircraft will have to stop flying in a couple of hours. So we probably will have some presence, but it will be reduced.”
