Progress Made On Stanislaus National Forest Fires
Dorrington, Ca — Wednesday proved to be busy for firefighters in the Stanislaus National Forest.
According to Forest Service Information Officer Pat Kaunert, a fire broke out around 9am, seven miles NE of Dorrington. Kaunert says the ½ acre fire is still going, but is expected to be contained later tonight.
Another small blaze was 11 miles directly east of Long Barn, and broke out early this afternoon. On scene were two engines, two prevention units, one helicopter and one water tender. Kaunert says that fire is now contained.
The 75-plus acre Calaveras Dome Fire is now 95% contained, according to Kaunert. Crews have been working since late Friday to put out the fire, located in rugged terrain, near the Salt Springs Reservoir.
