California economy added 11,000 payroll jobs in June
Sacramento, CA — The state Employment Development Department reports payroll employment in California grew by 11,000 jobs in June, with the information sector adding the most positions over the month.
The net payroll job gain in June follows the addition of 15,300 jobs in May, revised up from the 14,800 reported last month.
Nationally, the economy added 121,000 payroll jobs in June, up from 75,000 in May. Payroll employment totals are drawn from a survey of employers and don´t include farm workers and the self-employed.
A total of about 14.9 million people in California held payroll jobs in June. The information sector added 3,300 jobs in June. The financial activities sector lost the most positions at 1,000.
Over the 12-month period ending in June, the state´s economy added 235,600 jobs, up 1.6 percent.
