What should I do if I suspect a concussion?
If the injury was sport-related, remove the athlete from play. Monitor the athlete for signs and symptoms and do not allow them to drive, should symptoms worsen. Seek medical attention from a health care provider with experience assessing concussions. Follow specific instructions for recovery which will include lots of rest and limiting activities. Do not return to any activity until the physician or health care provider has determined it is safe to do so. Symptoms can be made worse by returning to certain activities too quickly and can also put the patient at risk for more severe brain injury.
