Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust
Murphys, CA – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies hit the jackpot after a routine traffic stop. It happed just after one on Monday in Murphys. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Sheri Hines, 43. There was also a passenger in the vehicle, Michael Outley, 28, both are from Angels Camp. The car was stopped for expired registration and an equipment violation.
Deputies say the couple consented to a search of the car. That’s when they found nearly .4 grams of meth in Hines wallet. Also, in the glove box they discovered 2.7 grams of marijuana and a can of pepper spray. Another can of pepper spray was found in the driver’s side door pocket.
A check of Outley driver’s license revealed he is on parolee from Stanislaus County. He was arrested and charged with felony Possession of a Tear Gas Weapon by a Felon, Possession of Marijuana, and Violation of Parole.
Hines was arrested and charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Tear Gas Weapon by an admitted addict.
