Sonora, CA — The Sonora Regional Medical Center has taken a step to increase the comfort for women who come in for mammograms.
Recently installed was a Mammopad, an FDA approved cushion that creates a softer mammogram.
According to Public Relations Director Gail Witzlsteiner, the discomfort many women feel during mammography compression is known to be a reason that some do not come in for an annual screening.
Witzlsteiner notes that regular mammograms are the only scientifically proven way to reduce breast cancer mortality.
