$10,000 Granted To Jamestown Jail And Central Sierra Arts Council
Sonora, CA — By a 4-1 vote (Third District Supervisor Teri Murrison was the only dissenter) the Board of Supervisors granted $5,000 to the Committee To Save The Jamestown Jail and a like amount to the Central Sierra Arts Council.
Several weeks ago the measure, sponsored by Fifth District Supervisor Dick Pland, failed when Murrison and Liz Bass voted no. A four-fifths vote was needed. But today the First District Supervisor changed her vote when Pland assured her that the $5,000 for the jail would be considered a “one time only” measure.
In other notes, C.A.O. Craig Pedro reported that the county´s budget was in the black to the tune of $317,000 and Julie Henriques was formerly introduced as CAL FIRE´s new Assistant County Fire Warden by Unit Chief Mike Noonan.
