Another Drowning At Yosemite

A 20-year-old Milpitas man drowned yesterday in the Merced River while swimming with friends at Emerald Pool in Yosemite National Park. Melvin Paballa was trying to swim across the river at Emerald Pool above Vernal Fall when he went under. Paballa´s friends pulled him from the river. Bystanders and park rangers performed CPR, but Paballa died at the scene.
