Folks in Pinecrest and Sonora will have their first shot at dropping off household hazardous waste Saturday.
Items being accepted include old alkaline batteries, oil-based paint, pool chemicals, and pesticides and herbicides.
Pinecrest residents can stop by the collection site at the Pinecrest County Road Operations Maintenance Yard, but Sonora residents are asked to call ahead and make a reservation.
The number is 800-811-2435, and by calling, folks can reserve a time and get directions to the dropoff location. Officials say reservations are limited, so it´s a good idea to call early.
A similar hazardous waste drop-off is planned for Groveland, in mid-May.
